Sharing Food at Arahoe

A message from Senior Management.

At Arahoe School drink or food treats/prizes may not be given out to children or classes. However, from time to time, classes may create and/or consume drink or food items as part of their learning programmes. When this occurs, parents will be informed of what children will be making and consuming. Your child's teacher will inform you well in advance of any planned shared lunch occasions. We understand that parents provide the food for their child, that they would like them to consume while they are at school.

Be Litter Free

Arahoe School cares for the environment. We want to reduce the amount
of rubbish we send to the landfill.
You can help us…
BE LITTER FREE!
Make your lunch-box free of gladwrap and
plastic wrappers as these are non-recyclable.  Instead, put food such as yoghurt, chips

and biscuits into reusable containers.

Litter-less Lunchbox Challenge
Term 4 20th of October – 21st of November

The challenge is
to see which class can have the most litter-free lunches by the end of Week 5.

Each class is to fill in the calender and create an eye catching graph in the classroom which records how many litter-free lunches they have on a daily basis.

The winner will be
the class with the highest daily average of litter-free lunch-boxes over the period of Week 2-5.

The prize will be
an out of school eco-picnic for the whole class, plus the chance to choose and plant the centrepiece tree in the school vegetable garden.

I will be sending home a notice about our stall by Wednesday next week!

Because We're Crossing!

Here is the jingle we made to help us remember the road rules when we cross!

We are performing next Friday morning so we need to practice.

It might seem crazy
What we're bout to say.
To cross the road right
you've got to look both ways.

An adult or road patroller
will help you!
Walk across, don't run
You don't wanna trip -OVER!

Because we're crossing..
Clap along if you know
what the right thing is to do.
Because we're crossing...
Clap along if you feel like
You know what to do.
Because we're crossing
Clap along if you are always
careful on the road.
Because we're crossing...
Clap along if you listen and
do what you are told!

Cans

Hi parents,

You may already know, but if not, this Friday the 5th of September is the nationwide Lunchbox Day. Lunchbox day is a fundraiser event for Kids Can New Zealand, and is supported by Campbell Live. Arahoe School is taking part in Lunchbox day by asking families to donate a tin can of baked beans or spaghetti (of any brand) on Friday morning

All the tin cans donated will be made into a tin can sculpture before being collected by Kids Can. A photo of our sculpture will be sent into Campbell Live and will hopefully appear on the show this Friday! If you would like to take part please bring a tin can donation to the front of room 23 by 9am Friday.

Thanks, Arahoe Primary School
